World renowned and true legend Inuit artist Simon Tookoome of Baker Lake, NU.  At 74 (born 1934) years of age, he is still a very active artist today.  He is also known for his highly skilled use of his dog team whip.  Simon is one of our last pioneers who grew up on the land traditionally before contact with the rest of the world.  During one of the festivities in the evening he demonstrated in front of a sold out croud whipping a cigarrette off of an audience member!  Truly amazing.

This is "Ame", the sculpture I brought to 3D lifeform from one of Ame Papatsie's drawings.  As he was showing me some of his work, I connected with this particular drawing and asked him if I could sculpt it (one side is an Inuksuk and the other is an Inuk).  He gave me the honour and this is how it turned out!  "Ame" (appropriately named after Ame) found a wonderful home in Washington.
