How Fog Came To Be
One day an Inuk was fishing as he was very hungry. He kept on looking around to see if there were
any other animals around that he could catch for food. As he was looking around he saw a giant, man, coming towards
him. The Inuk was scared that the giant would kill him so he laid down and pretended he was dead. When
the giant came to the Inuk, the giant saw that he was dead. He picked him up, put him on his back,
carried him to his home and put him on the floor. The giant's wife saw what her husband brought back so she decided
to go outside and prepare something for the meal. The giant was tired so he laid down to go to sleep. The Inuk
realized that he was going to be eaten so he opened his eyes to see what he could do to escape. When he opened his eyes,
he saw an axe close to the giant. When the giant fell asleep, the Inuk got up, grabbed the axe, killed the giant,
and ran out the door and started running away. The wife started running after him and as she was gaining on him the
Inuk swung the axe into the ground. The ground opened up, started filling with water and started becoming a river.
When the wife got to the edge of the river, she yelled out to him asking how he got across? The Inuk yelled back to
her and told her by drinking the water. The wife then drank the water until she felt she couldn't drink anymore.
The Inuk told her to keep on drinking, so she did. She kept on drinking until her stomach burst and fog started
to come out.
Un jour, un Inuk est allé pêcher,
car il était très affamé. Il regardait autour de lui afin de voir quel animal il pourrait attraper pour
se nourrir. Comme il regardait dans les alentours, il a vu un géant qui venait dans sa direction. L'Inuk très
apeuré et a décidé de s'étendre sur le sol afin de prétendre qu'il était
mort. Quand le géant s'est approché de lui, il a remarqué que l'homme semblait mort. Il a ramassé
l'Inuk, l'a placé sur son dos, s'est dirigé vers sa maison et l'a finalement déposé
sur le plancher. La femme du géant voyant ce que son mari avait rapporté, a décidé d'aller
à l'extérieur pour préparer le repas. Pendant ce temps, le géant bien fatigué, s'est
étendu pour dormir un peu. L'Inuk a voulu ouvrir ses yeux afin de voir de quelle façon il pourrait bien
s'échapper, car il savait qu'il allait être mangé. Lorsqu'il a ouvert ses yeux, il a vu une
hache placée tout près du géant. Quand le géant s'est finalement endormi, l'Inuk s'est
levé, a pris la hache, a tué le géant et s'est enfui. La femme du géant s'est mise à
courir après lui et lorsqu'elle s'est approchée plus près de lui, l'Inuk a lancé la
hache dans la terre. La terre s'est fendue en deux et a commencé à se remplir d'eau pour rapidement
devenir une rivière. Lorsque la femme est arrivée tout près de la rive, elle a demandé à
l'Inuk comment il avait fait pour traverser sur l'autre rive. Il lui a répondu en criant qu'il avait traversé
en buvant l'eau. La femme a bu l'eau de la rivière jusqu'à ce qu'elle ne puisse plus boire.
L'Inuk a dit à la femme du géant de boire encore plus et elle l'a écouté. Elle a continué
de boire jusqu'à ce que son ventre explose et que la brume a commencé à en sortir. C'est ainsi
que la brume pris naissance.
